"Mo' Menace, Mo' Problems"

Battle lines are drawn around Josh's decision to
sing in the school musical. Mr. Vincent is practically
spazzing with excitement -- a popular student like
Josh will guarantee a huge crowd. But the
demanding role will interfere with football, and
Coach Peritti and Josh's dad will do anything in
their power to keep him on the team.
Brooke, who unlike Josh's dad occasionally has
some feelings, feels guilty about shutting out
Carmen from the squad. It doesn't help that
everyone is treating her like a total monster. Sam
makes a single human gesture and wins an invite
to Brooke's party out of sheer gratefulness. But
Sam's friend Harrison (who's obsessed with
Brooke) accuses her of selling out to make it with
the "in" crowd, and she decides not to go after all.
When Brooke runs into Carmen at a local diner,
they end up having a heart-to-heart. Carmen
would give anything to have Brooke's life and she
tells her so, but Brooke opens up and explains
that being the most popular girl in school isn't
everything it's cracked up to be. She has a
problem with food too, but instead of overeating
she starves herself, all for the sake of being
accepted. For a moment, Brooke and Carmen are
friends. Carmen wants to know why she didn't
make the cheerleading squad, and Brooke levels
with her -- she's too fat.
That Friday, Sam decides that her friends are
every bit as good as Brooke's crowd, so they
posse up and crash the party together. Sparks fly,
and just when the party dip is about to hit the fan,
Brooke's dad waltzes in with Sam's mom to
announce they're engaged!
Week two and it's a tie score between Popular and
Unpopular. Looks like we're headed for overtime...
